Plot

Ashwin (Jeeva), a young, energetic photojournalist working for the private newspaper "Dina Anjal", witnesses how Naxalites rob a local bank. He chases them and manages to click photos of the robbers. But he is chased by them and his vehicle gets smashed up. When he tries to escape, he is stopped by a young woman (Karthika Nair) who assumes he is the culprit and helps the robbers to take his camera. However, he is able to secure the Memory Card of the camera and to verify that he is a press photographer. He shows the photos to the police, who identify everyone except the gang leader (whose face is covered by a mask). At his office, he meets Renuka, the woman who earlier mistook him, who is newly joined as Article Editor. Saraswathi (Piaa Bajpai) also works in his office.
Vasanth (Ajmal Ameer), a fresh-young graduate, strives hard to enter the political field. Strongly he is in contests with his rivals who capture the people at the time of elections by giving freebies and money circulation processes. No one cares about Vasanth and his team of graduates, who promise a healthy government to people. Their group name happens to be 'Siragugal'.
Meanwhile, Renuka involves herself in writing a cover story about a politician Aalavandhan, stating that he is forcing illegal minor marriage for him. Flamed by this, Aalavandhan urges into the newspaper office and shouts badly at Renuka who is then fired from her job for bringing down the name of the newspaper. Jeeva now risks his life to capture the pics of Aalavandhan who actually engages in a child marriage. Later the story with the pics is printed in their newspaper and this makes Renuka to fall in love with him. Saraswathi continues to have a crush on him, who later knows that he's in love with her. She unites them both happily.
Vasanthan organizes a political campaign meeting. Ashwin receives a text message from Saraswathi that states there is a bomb underneath the stage. Ashwin manages to save Vasanth, while he finds a seriously injured Saraswathi fighting for her life amidst the riot, but eventually succumbing to her injuries.
Ashwin, through a video clip recorded by another photographer, finds out that Saraswathi is being intentionally killed by someone. He later notices a resemblance between the leader of the bank robbery and this unknown killer, concluding that it is the same person. Renuka, meanwhile, comes to know that Ashwin and Vasanth are college mates. While she asks about this to Ashwin, he says that he's helping wise and efficient men to take up the governance of the state and he has helped Vasanth.
Vasanth wins in the elections taking majority and his party raises to the secretariat. He gives order to the police to release 20 naxals on Republic Day in an Humane Way. Hearing this, Ashwin rushes to meet Vasanth. He finds Vasanth talking to a person. He sees the scar on his forehead and says that this was the person whom he saw in the bank robbery. Vasanth declines his point saying that he has got some offical meeting. After Ashwin rushes to follow the naxals, Vasanth gives command to police officials to clear the naxals down.
Ashwin goes to the hideout of Naxals and manages to get the information that Vasanth is the culprit behind the bomb-blast. The naxal group head, who is injured says to Ashwin that Vasanth played double-game. He angrily confesses the truth that, Vasanth asked him to kill Saraswathi, who found out that Vasanth can do anything for becoming a politician. He transmits the live confession of the leader over his 3G phone with a videocall to Renuka who prepares the final proof of paper with headlines that Vasanth is a culprit.
In the climax is a fight between Special Task Force-Vasanth-Naxals-Ashwin, where Vasanth is killed by a mineblast. Ashwin calls up Renuka and asks her not to publish in the newspaper that Vasanth is the culprit because, if she does then all the members of Siragugal who promises to bring a neat government would be stepping down from power. She deletes the article.

It hits every protruding rock."National Film Award-winning critic, Baradwaj Rangan wrote that "If someone wants to make a case for the abolishment of song and dance from our cinema, Ko would be Exhibit A." He also went on to state that "Ko is a series of big scenes with no transitions, no segues, no scenes that just stop to smell the scenery." Indiaglitz said that "Racy all through, it is a movie that is worth a watch, if you are really not bothered about logic at certain places."

கஜினி is a 2005 blockbuster Tamil psychological thriller film directed by A. R. Murugadoss released on October 14, 2005. The film stars Surya Sivakumar, Asin Thottumkal, Nayantara, Pradeep Rawat and Riyaz Khan. It was dubbed and released in Telugu by Allu Aravind in November 2005, and was successful there as well. It was remade into a Hindi film by Murugadoss again, starring Aamir Khan with Asin Thottumkal playing the same role. The Hindi version broke all records and is the fifth highest grossing Indian film till date. The film's concept is an inspiration from Christopher Nolan's Memento.
The film's story is around a rich business entrepreneur falling in love with an ad film actress. The entrepreneur and the actress fall in love, though she does not know that he is an entrepreneur. When she successfully saves a bunch of children who were in danger, she is brutally murdered by a gang leader and the entrepreneur himself gets hit hard on the head when he tries to save his lover, eventually leading him into a state of short term memory loss. He is later studied about and helped by a psychology student to take revenge on the one who murdered his lover.

Plot

The story centers on Sanjay Ramaswami (Surya Sivakumar), a rich businessman who owns a cell phone company named Air Voice and the events surrounding his relationship with Kalpana (Asin Thottumkal).
Kalpana, an advertisement model, meets with representatives from Sanjay's company who come to request a business agreement and ends up telling her advertisement crew that she is Sanjay's love interest - after the crew mistakenly thought that the executives were sent by Sanjay to ask for her love. She has never met him, but soon exploits popularity from her "relationship" with him and inadvertently gives an interview for a magazine. Sanjay, who reads the article, goes to confront her. On his way, he catches a fleeting glimpse of Kalpana (whom he doesn't know yet) helping handicapped children to cross a street, and falls in love. He moves on to confront Kalpana at her advertisement studio and is pleasantly surprised to find that she is the same woman he saw a while ago. He chooses to hide his true identity, takes the name Manohar, so that he can get to know her. Kalpana eventually falls in love with him.
Once, while on a train to Mumbai, Kalpana saves a group of young girls from abuse by a group of goons led by Lakshman (Pradeep Rawat).
After a few days, the same goons come to Kalpana's house in order to avenge their embarrassment. Incidentally, Sanjay arrives at the scene and fights off the goons, but during the ensuing fight, Kalpana is murdered. Kalpana never finds out that he is Sanjay. Lakshman then strikes the downcast Sanjay on his head severely with a metal rod. Sanjay survives the blow, but suffers a short-term amnesia.
His condition makes him forget everything that happened every 15 minutes. The only memory he has is of Kalpana's murder, though he cannot remember the murderer. He embarks on a quest to avenge her. Despite his condition, he succeeds in finding and killing Lakshman's men. Chitra(Nayantara), a medical student, takes interest in Sanjay's case and meets him. Sanjay, reluctantly, adds her to his photo collection labeling her as a friend so that she could meet him and talk later. Later, Chitra finds his intention to murder Lakshman and tattles on him.
Lakshman is amused that a man with short term memory loss is trying to kill him. Nevertheless, he destroys all the information Sanjay collected, all his photos and even shaved the tattoos Sanjay had off so that he will forget his quest. However, Chitra finds and reads Sanjay's journal and become sympathetic to his cause. She tells Sanjay who murdered Kalpana.
In the final confrontation, Sanjay fights with both Lakshman and his twin brother and kills them.

Production

Casting

Initially, Ajith Kumar accepted the role and the film was to be titled Mirattal and also photo session took place but subsequently dropped out. Then the role finally went to Surya Sivakumar who grabbed it and it turned out to be one of the biggest commercial successes in his career. During an interview in 2006, Murugadoss openly admitted that the movie specially scripted for Surya.
Meera Jasmine was the first choice to play the role of Kalpana. But she dropped the project and later replaced by Asin Thottumkal which helped her to establish as the top lead actress in Kollywood.

Allegations of plagiarism

In response to allegations of plagiarism, Aamir Khan noted "Murgadoss had heard about a film called Memento and the concept had really fascinated him. Without having seen the film he went ahead and wrote his own version of the script and screenplay. Having finished his script, he then saw Memento, found it very different from what he had written, and went ahead and made Ghajini."

This season the number of teams in the league went from eight to ten with the additions of the Pune Warriors India and the Kochi Tuskers Kerala. Chirayu Amin is the chairman and commissioner.

Format

With the introduction of 2 new teams, a new ten-team format was created. This new format consists of 74 matches and was introduced as retaining the previous format would result in 94 matches, significantly greater than the 60 matches from the previous season, where teams compete in a double round-robin tournament. The knockout stage was changed to a playoff format. If a match ends in a tie, a Super Over will be played to determine the winner.
The ten teams are divided into two groups of five. In the group stage, each team plays 14 games: facing the other four teams in their group two times each (one home and one away game), four teams in the other group once, and the remaining team two times. A random draw was used to determine the groups and who plays whom across the groups once and twice.
Each team plays the team in the same row and the same column twice, and all others once. For instance, Pune Warriors will play Chennai Super Kings and the other Group A teams twice but the other teams from Group B (Kolkata Knight Riders, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals) only once. Similarly Kochi Tuskers Kerala will play Delhi Daredevils and the other Group B teams twice but all other teams from Group A only once.
Group A Group B
Deccan Chargers Kolkata Knight Riders
Delhi Daredevils Kochi Tuskers Kerala
Kings XI Punjab Royal Challengers Bangalore
Mumbai Indians Rajasthan Royals
Pune Warriors India Chennai Super Kings
Points are awarded in the group stage as follows:
Result Points
Win 2 points
No result 1 point
Loss 0 points
A four-game playoff stage following the Page playoff system is held after the group stage.
Four games will be played in the playoffs:
  • Game A, between the teams ranked first and second in the group stage.
  • Game B, between the teams ranked third and fourth in the group stage.
  • Game C, between the loser of Game A and winner of Game B.
  • Final, between the winners of Games A and C.
The top three teams from the tournament qualify for the 2011 Champions League Twenty20. Due to the new playoff format, the qualifying teams will be the top two teams of the group stage and the winner of Game B in the playoff stage.
