You also need to carry documents to indicate your correct age. The applicant needs to produce one of the following is mandatory for the application to be accepted.

  • School Certificate
  • Birth Certificate.
  • PAN card.
  • Certificate granted by the registered medical practitioner not below the rank of a Civil Surgeon.
  • Self swearing Affidavit by an applicant before an executive Magistrate or a First Class Judicial Magistrate or a Notary Public as evidence of age and address.

Steps To Follow To Get Learner's Driving License



The Learner's License is provided to people who are at least 16 years old. You can apply only if you are aged above the stipulated age. People aged between 16 and 18 will only be provided with a Learner's license for a 50cc two wheeler. They also need to provide their parents' approval in writing to the RTO.
People aged above 18 years can apply for a learner's license for a motorcycle with gears or a light motor vehicle.
People seeking a learner's license to drive transport vehicles must be above the age of 20 years. Further they need to have a valid driving license for light motor vehicle that is active for at least one year.
The filled application needs to be presented to the Asistant RTO - Driving License Division.
Applicants who have passed SSLC are given a multiple choice written test. Others are given an oral test by the concerned authority. The test will be about traffic signs, signals, rules that come under section 118 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
People who have passed the test can get their LL as soon as the same day. But if you are among the unlucky few who did not pass the test, the application along with other documents will be returned to the applicant and he/she can re-apply on the next day itself.
The learner's license is valid for a period of six months and you cannot get it renewed. You can now learn to drive a vehicle of your choice and seek a permanent driving license within six months.
