While the Department of Telecom (DoT) has been striving to implement full mobile number portability (MNP) in India, the body has now achieved an important step.
Telecom users in India can now dial STD numbers on any network without having prefix 0 or +91. This implies that the distinction between local and STD calls has currently been depleted to a very thin line. This improvement comes in line with the departments plans to implement the full MNP across the country.
While the service has already been activated for most service providers, some users are still unable to utilize the service as it is being rolled out based on the network operator and region. However, most users are expected to have the service activated by the end of this month. Further, DoT has revealed that full MNP across India would be completed by July.
